The EIC Project Awards are designed to shine a spotlight on outstanding work in the contracting industry. To make sure we recognize the very best, ABC WMC assembles a panel of judges, comprised of representatives from various sectors of our industry, such as clients, facility directors, building inspectors, architects, and engineers from the West Michigan area. Learn more about the judging process and what our experts are looking for below.
Each winner is determined based on a quantitative and comprehensive set of guidelines that our judges review throughout the process.
The EIC judging panel travels to the project and goes on an in-person site tour. During the tour, the judging panel interviews the building owner or representative. Judges ask questions about the building process and score the project based on a specified rubric. Then, the scores of the judges are added and averaged to determine the final score.
ABC WMC awards Safety Excellence in three categories: General Contractor/Construction Manager, Electrical Contractor, and Trade Contractor. Finalists are selected based on an anonymous review of safety data and responses to a safety assessment. Judges then conduct onsite interviews and jobsite tours for all finalists.
Nominations are reviewed by a CPOY or YPOY judging panel, finalists must meet eligibility requirements, and those selected will proceed to in-person interviews. Nominees are evaluated on their leadership skills, job performance, commitment to safety and education, community involvement, and embodiment of the merit shop philosophy, emphasizing both technical and leadership qualities.
